Editorial Policy

This is the canonical policy for how Stylen publishes. Individual articles link here instead of inventing a different policy each time.

Who is responsible

Stylen is founded and edited by Derek. Named authors and reviewers appear on articles when applicable. See Authors.

What we publish

  • Editorial guides — buying, comparison, and styling advice for real shopper decisions (How We Research).
  • AI Styling looks — outfit inspiration concepts at /style/{slug}/, AI-assisted and human-reviewed.
  • Brand and category hubs — only when they connect to useful editorial content.

How AI is used

AI may help with:

  • Outfit concept exploration and visual composition
  • Structured breakdowns and consistent formatting
  • Research organisation and drafting support on editorial pages

AI does not publish unsupervised. Outfit pages and guides are reviewed before they go live. Guides that used AI for substantial prose set aiAssisted: true.

Human review

Before publish, editors check:

  • Clear decision and honest scope (especially on buying guides)
  • Cohesion, proportion, and practical wearability on outfit looks
  • No fabricated testing, ratings, or ownership claims
  • Affiliate disclosure where links can earn a commission

Editorial independence

Styling concepts and guide criteria are not sold as placements. We do not accept payment for guaranteed ranking positions. Affiliate programmes may enable links; they do not invent a recommendation.

Updates and corrections

We aim to:

  • Show publish and updated dates on articles
  • Revise guides when criteria or important product facts change
  • Correct errors reported through Contact

Fashion inspiration is subjective. We still treat factual errors (wrong materials claims, broken disclosures, mislabelled AI assistance) as corrections.

What Stylen is — and is not

Stylen is: an independent editorial site for shopping decisions and outfit inspiration.

Stylen is not: a certified styling service, wear-test lab, or trend forecasting authority.
